The Wife and I met in college and have been together ever since. We currently have two amazing children, and together they all keep me focused to accomplish my goals and objectives.
Sometimes, spending time doing a simple activity or two can be a great way to enjoy friends, family, or even on a holiday like Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 9, which makes it easy to get outside and be one with nature, too.
Here are 10 best Mothers’ Day activity ideas you can do when May 9 rolls around in a few weeks.
Be it your mom, grandma, or a special woman in your life she will be glad to get out of the house and finally have some good old-fashioned fun!
1. Go for a long walk in your neighborhood.
Before everyone puts on their sneakers, check out the local trails, and areas where you can go. Your mom will love breathing in the fresh air and literally smelling the roses.
2. Go for a bike ride.
If you and your mom have bikes great! Biking is all the rage now from coast to coast and everyone seems to be doing it. If you don’t, rent a bike or two and take mom out in your neighborhood.
3. Beach Day.
It’s hopefully warm enough to take mom to the local beach. Pack up a yummy lunch you prepared or stop by her favorite café. Bring a big blanket to spread on the sand. Watch the waves and kick back with mom.
4. Shop ‘till You Drop.
If you have a downtown area or nearby town take mom shopping. Treat her to lunch at a nearby café.
5. Get Cultured.
Stroll through a local museum and check out the exhibits and displays. This is something mom would never do on her own as she rarely has time for herself.
If you’re in a city, town, or neighborhood with a movie theater take mom to a matinee. Buy her whatever she likes from the refreshment counter like a big bucket of popcorn and a soft drink.
If your mom likes to play golf but hasn’t gone in a while head to a public golf course. Pay for the green fees and cart. It’ll be a wonderful day for all who join in. Or enjoy any outside activity like badminton, croquet, or tennis.
8. Brunch Time.
Go for brunch at a swanky hotel. On Mother’s Day, hotels and resorts are usually open and offer a Mother’s Day brunch. The setting is nice, and she can be catered to while enjoying a delicious meal.
9. Cooking and Baking.
Most moms love to cook and bake. Why not ask mom to share some of her favorite recipes? She can instruct as the two of you or the entire family join in.
10. Boating, Sailing.
Rent a boat or take mom on a boat ride at a local lake, or if you’re lucky enough to live near the ocean. Many marinas offer boat rentals or hire a captain to take everyone out on the water.
This Mother’s Day – like all of them – should be special, especially after a rough year of being locked in and locked down. Your mom, grandmother, or whoever that special woman is in your life, deserves to have some fun.
